Mezzo-soprano Anna Loveday obtained a Masters Degree in singing and continued her opera studies in London. She has performed and toured with opera companies across the UK in roles such as Carmen (Carmen), Amneris (Aida), Eboli (Don Carlo), Lady Macbeth (Verdi’s Macbeth), Laura (La Gioconda), Maddelena (Rigoletto), Bersi (Andrea Chenier), Mère Marie (Dialogues des Carmélites), Rossweisse and Fricka (Die Walküre), Madame Larina (Eugene Onegin), Bianca (Rape of Lucretia), Marcellina (Marriage of Figaro), Annina (La Traviata), Brangaene (Tristan and Isolde), Florence (Albert Herring), Erde and Flosshilde (Das Rheingold), La Zia Principessa (Suor Angelica), Frugola (Il Tabarro), and Klytaemnestra (Elektra) as well as roles in contemporary operas.
Solo concert work includes Mahler’s Das Lied von der Erde, Verdi’s Requiem, and the Wesendonk Lieder. Anna was a runner up in the final of the Covent Garden Opera Festival Competition in 2024. In 2025 she played ‘Lady Jane’ (Patience) at the Buxton Opera House, which won the International G and S Festival overall prize and several roles in a brand new opera The Murderous Delusions of Gavrillo K by Kevin Rodgers, at the Tête-à-tête festival, which is being reprised at the Grimeborn Festival this year. Other performances this year include soloist in Rossini’s Petite Messe Solonnelle and Karl Jenkins’ The Armed Man and another production as Carmen.
Anna conducts her own chamber choir the ‘Loveday Singers’ and is also a straight actor.
