- Dialogues des Carmélites – Sister Valentine
Hebe Hamilton Sister Valentine is a British-Irish Mezzo-Soprano. She has previously studied at Royal Northern College of Music, Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, and University of Cambridge. Hebe is honoured to have been a Bayreuther Festspiele Stipendiatin for the 2024 Wagner Festival, and since Summer 2025 has been part of the Bayreuther Festspielchor, where she has performed as a Lehrbube (Apprentice) in Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, a Blumenmädchen in the Blumenmädchen semi-chorus in Parsifal, and in Lohengrin. Hebe was thrilled to return to Bayreuther Festspiele in 2026 for the 150th Anniversary season, where she performed in Rienzi, Der fliegende Holländer, Parsifal and Götterdämmerung. She has also performed as one of the Solo Blumenmädchen in a concert performance of Parsifal in London in May 2026.
Hebe is also looking forward to covering the role of Siegrune in Die Walküre with Opera Forge later this autumn. Previous credits include Alexander Raskatov’s Animal Farm at the Wiener Staatsoper and Dutch National Opera, Die Knusperhexe in Hänsel und Gretel at Theater im Delphi Berlin, and Der fliegende Holländer, Così fan Tutte, Tosca, Edgar, Ruddigore, HMS Pinafore and, all for Opera Holland Park, and Stravinsky’s Les Noces with English National Ballet at Sadler’s Wells.
Roles and performances during training include the Old Woman/Book of Fate in Jonathan Dove’s The Enchanted Pig, Amastre (Serse), Sally (A Hand of Bridge), and Orlofsky (Die Fledermaus), Laura (Iolanta), Cheshire Cat (Will Todd’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland), Lady Bertram (Dove’s Mansfield Park) for opera scenes, and soloist in Berio’s Folk Songs, Cage’s Litany for the Whale and selections from Copland’s Emily Dickinson songs. Hebe is delighted to be singing with Saffron Opera Group again this year. During the 2026-27 season, she is also looking forward to joining Theater Basel.
