Alistair Sutherland is an operatic baritone, music educator, and workshop leader, with a versatile career spanning performance, teaching, and community engagement. An MA graduate of the Royal Academy of Music, he was selected as an 2012 Opera Holland Park Young Artist and was a finalist in the 2024 Mastersingers Wagner Award.
This Autumn he is looking forward to performing Steuerman (Tristan and Isolde) with London Opera Company, Klaremberg (La Dame de Pique) with Gothic Opera, and singing in the chorus in Tosca with the Oxford Philharmonic.
A regular with the Opera Holland Park chorus, Alistair has enjoyed performing a number of roles with fringe and touring companies including Onegin (Yevgény Onegin), Nick Shadow (The Rake’s Progress), Bluebeard (Bluebeard’s Castle), Smirnov (The Bear), Michele (Il Tabarro), Dulcamara (L’elisir d’amore) and Figaro (Le nozze di Figaro).
As well as pursuing opportunities on the operatic stage, he is a passionate community engagement facilitator, notably working on several Learning and Participation projects with The Royal Ballet and Opera and English Touring Opera.
