Mezzo-soprano Alice Ruxandra Bell (Sister Alice) London-born, half-Romanian, and raised in France, trained at the Royal College of Music under Janis Kelly, earning her Bachelor of Music and Master of Performance as a scholar of the Drapers de Turckheim Scholarship and The Countess of Munster Musical Trust. She currently studies under John Evans.
Alice has been part of the Glyndebourne Chorus since 2025. Her recent operatic roles include Suzuki in Madama Butterfly with the London City Philharmonic, Marcellina in Le Nozze di Figaro with the Central London Chamber Orchestra, La Marchande de Journaux in Les Mamelles de Tirésias at the Rye Arts Festival, and Karen in Frankenstein: The Modern Prometheus at the Royal College of Music. She has also covered roles in their productions, such as Mrs. Kneebone in Berkeley’s A Dinner Engagement and Hippolyta in Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
Last year, Alice was a Serena Fenwick Artist with the British Youth Opera. She has a strong passion for languages, and her love for them is brought into the text of her music and performances.
