Helen Bailey Sister Felicity was born in Middlesbrough and graduated from Liverpool John Moores University with a First Class degree in English Literature before training on the postgraduate Vocal Studies course at Trinity Laban. She then studied at The Royal Academy of Music, winning many awards and gaining an Advanced Diploma in Opera, a Masters in Vocal Studies, and the Vocal Teaching Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Music.
Helen divides her time between teaching and performing. Opera roles include Santuzza (Cavalleria Rusticana) for Kentish Opera, Micäela (Carmen) for Opera South East and Opera Brava, Veronique (Doctor Miracle) for Pop Up Opera, Elizabeth I (Mary Queen of Scots) for Opera Up Close, Pamina (The Magic Flute) for Ryedale Opera, Dama (Macbeth) for Buxton International Festival Opera, Vitellia (La Clemenza Di Tito) for Red Earth Opera, Female Chorus (The Rape of Lucretia) for Opera dal Pozzo, Fiordiligi (Così fan tutte) for Carshalton Opera, Cleopatra (Giulio Cesare) for Pleasure Dome Theatre and Somerset Opera and several roles for Midsummer Opera including Lisa (The Queen of Spades), Magda (La Rondine), and the title role of Jenůfa.
As well as her opera work, Helen is much in demand as a concert soloist, with highlights including: Verdi’s Requiem at The Anvil, Basingstoke; Vaughan Williams’ Sea Symphony at The Stag theatre, Sevenoaks, recitals for Concerts Originaux des Amis and Symphonova, and opera gala concerts with Royal Northern Sinfonia.
Helen lives in Tonbridge, Kent with her husband and their two children.
